In the June issue of Genii Magazine I was fortunate enough to have the whole Magicana column devoted to my material.
9 new items were featured in
total and during the writing of the column I offered that I would put
videos of the effects on my website. I felt that readers
would really benefit from seeing the material as I performed it and Richard
Kaufman agreed. I'd like to thank Richard and David Acer for
their time and efforts in the preparation of the Magicana, and of
course Earle Oakes for the wonderful illustrations. I couldn't be
happier with it.
The videos are all in WMV format watchable with Windows Media Player
amongst other things. The videos are of varying qulality as they have
been shot over the past years as the material has been developed. Just
click the "clapperboard" to watch each one.
If you have the June 2006 Genii
then hopefully these will really help you to see how the material looks
when I perform it. If you haven't then hopefully it will
encourage you to go buy it! You can click the front cover
above to be taken to the Genii back orders page to get a copy.
Quotes from David Acer's writing in the column are in italics.
ODDSERVATION
"By combining a clear
presentation through line with smart theatrical blocking, Jack has
built a richly layered card routine that at the same time manages to
avoid confusion."
"I
am using "Oddservation" at my Bar here in San Diego and it is VERY
COMMERICAL! Everything in the Genii Magicana has a home for us all
in our performance's." J C Wagner
TRAVELLING WITHOUT MOVING
"This
is a strikingly visual approach to Larry Jennnings "Invisible Palm
Aces" in which the card "apparates" underneath a clearly empty hand
that is raised above the table ."
The video shows the "delux"
version which is slightly different from the detailed description in
Genii. Can you spot the difference?
ON, IN AND UNDER
"Jack performs this astonishing transposition from a shuffle deck."
This routine is a fast and very visual transposition which makes a "cute" use for the card case.
REMOTE CONTROL
"This take on the classic "Do As I Do" theme offers a method so clean that you don't even have to touch the cards."
THE "NO FUSS" SWITCH
"This stellar version of the Elmsley / Marlo "ATFUS" has already begun to make the rounds among the cognoscenti ."
ALL THAT JAZZ
"This is lovely, streamlined, thoroughly uncluttered handling for Peter Kane's seminal "Jazz Aces"."
RABBITS
"Rabbits",
"Labeled A Cheat" and "Altered States" are three effects utlising the
same simple gimmick. "Rabbits" is very cute, very funny and very
fooling.
